I am Dr Mike Palmer, director of N-Zero-1 Ltd, based in Wilmslow, Cheshire, UK. I gained my Ph.D. at Manchester University while I was Head of Medical Statistics at the world famous Christie Hospital, a major cancer treatment centre in the UK. Then during 23 years at AstraZeneca I had a number of roles as Team Leader, Principal Statistician and Statistical Scientist during which I gained particular experience in lipid metabolism, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease, venous occlusion plethysmography, ultrasound measurement of carotid intima-media-thickness, and oncology (mainly, breast, prostate, head and neck, larynx, pediatrics, and radiotherapy).

I am now retired and want to fulfill my ambition of running my own business offering a statistical service to companies and institutions in pharmaceuticals, medical research and health-care.

One of my particular skills is teaching statistics to non-statisticians, including physicians. This was acquired over many years, starting at the Christie Hospital in Manchester, UK, leading to an appointment as Senior Examiner in Medical Statistics for the Royal College of Radiologists. I strongly believe statistics is not a "difficult" subject, and I am passionate about communicating statistical concepts and statistical results clearly and concisely.
